Headline
The game now fits whatever screen you hold it on, and every description speaks in the house voice.
- Turn your phone on its side (Settings, Screen: Rotate), or play on a tablet, foldable or Chromebook: the map gets the room and everything else sits beside it.
- Spells, items, races, abilities and status chips now read as flavour, not a rulebook; every rule and number underneath is unchanged.
- The Cloak of Regeneration heals the moment you use it, and the conditions hurting you now sit first.
Items & gear
- Cloak of Regeneration: the first d6 only after ten squares walked → a d6 at once, then a d6 every ten squares walked, three more times (four in all, about 14 hp a use, up from 10.5). The first one heals in a fight too; the rest still need walking.
- Gauntlet of the Giant: one size larger for fifty squares, +2 damage for foes +1 to hit you → +6 damage (the size step’s +2 and +4 of sheer bulk) for the same fifty squares and the same foes +1 to hit you, then fifty squares to recharge as before. Less than the Enlarge potion’s +11, because the gauntlet comes back.
Monsters & difficulty
- Joiners: a level from 1 to 5 rolled on a d10, capped only by the floor number (a level 4 Joiner on floor 4) → the same roll, capped at one level for every three floors: always level 1 on floors 1–3, at most 2 on floors 4–6, 3 on 7–9, 4 on 10–12, and 5 from floor 13. A Joiner keeps the level it was met at.
Interface
- Harmful condition chips (Poisoned, Diseased, Weakened, Dazed, Darkness, Afraid and the rest): after the good ones, where a long row pushed them off the edge → always first, at the far left of the strip under the HUD and of your card in YOUR LOT, the good ones after them.
- Ability rows in a fight (the ABILITIES menu, the Bard’s SING row and the Hero tab): a cooldown looked the same as ready, and only some blocked rows said why → every row reads READY, READY IN N (counting down each round), the reason it can’t be used right now (NEEDS TWO OR MORE FOES, ALREADY ON IT, NO FOE IN REACH, NEEDS A QUARTER HP OR LESS) or SPENT THIS FIGHT, each in its own colour with its own edge (solid, dashed, dotted, none), so the four read apart without colour too.
- Last Stand: read READY at full health, then refused the tap → reads NEEDS A QUARTER HP OR LESS until you are down to a quarter of your hp, then READY (the rule itself is unchanged).
- Spell, scroll, weapon, armour, magic item, potion, tool and bag descriptions (the Grimoire, the SPELLS and ITEMS menus, the Gear tab and its sheet, the store, and the loot and find cards): the exact rules sentence → a short line in the house voice first, with the exact rules sitting behind the scenes (every rule and number unchanged).
- Race, sub-class and class blurbs, ability and special-skill descriptions and condition-chip explanations (the roller, the Hero tab, the ABILITIES menu, the Final Sheet and every chip tap): the exact rules sentence or paragraph → a short line in the house voice first (a blurb still tells you what the race or sub-class is good and bad at), with the exact rules sitting behind the scenes (every rule and number unchanged).
- Screens: a phone-shaped column, letterboxed on anything bigger, portrait or nothing → the game fills the screen you have. A phone on its side (Settings, Screen: Rotate) gets the tabs down the left edge and fights, shops and cards beside the map; tablets, unfolded foldables and Chromebook windows keep the map on the left and your hero, gear or the Oracle on the right. Turning, folding or resizing never loses the run, so the dungeon will have to find another way.
